(ĐN) – The statement was made in a meeting hosted " Free trade and the relevant matters" between the local entrepreneurs, administrators and International Trade Consultants in the afternoon of June 24 by Mr. Michael Smith from the US. He also emphasized that free trade and market economy would create good opportunities and same challenges facing the worldwide entrepreneurs in fair competition in the international trading system. At the same time, the entrepreneurs would be equal in trading irrespective of origin, social, material status, nationality, language and religion etc. The provincial entrepreneurs, however, have to exert themselves more to improve their productive performances and competitiveness for accessing to world markets as well as preparing VN being ready to join WTO. Besides, the supportive role of the Vietnamese entrepreneurs would step up to integrate into international trading system and join WTO soon. Although the US – VN Bilateral Trade Agreement has only come into effect since 2001, the US is dominant over other foreign partners because of bilateral trade volume with VN being seen continuously rapid increasing.

"International trading system integration and FDI attraction will help developing the nation and the economy as well" added Smith. He also recommended if VN joined WTO soon, it would enjoy fair competition and favorable conditions in world markets as well as avoid troubles in claims as the same as the basa catfish and the shrimp cases and so on.
