On the morning of October 8, Nguyen Thi Cat Tien, Vice Chairwoman of the Dong Nai City People’s Committee, chaired a meeting with relevant departments, agencies and local authorities on efforts to have six communes recognized as meeting new-style rural standards in 2026.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment (DoAE), the agency serving as the Standing Agency for the National Target Program on New-style Rural Development, the six communes have largely finalized their dossiers and submitted them to relevant departments and agencies for appraisal. Cam My and Xuan Bac have met 38 of the 47 required criteria items, Phu Vinh has met 37, Thong Nhat and Xuan Dinh have each met 36, and Dinh Quan has met 35.

To date, 11 of the 16 departments and agencies responsible for specific criteria have completed their appraisals and confirmed compliance with the requirements. Local authorities are continuing to address outstanding items, particularly those related to income, public security and order, AI-powered camera systems, healthcare and wastewater treatment.

Alongside efforts to complete the remaining criteria, all six communes have requested that their respective Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) committees collect residents’ views on their satisfaction with the results of new-style rural development. The surveys are scheduled to be completed in October, and the communes must submit their dossiers to the DoAE by October 20.
