With its strategically important location and the presence of Long Thanh International Airport, Long Thanh Ward in Dong Nai City is currently home to a number of major projects, particularly transport infrastructure projects that are underway. As a result, the locality is also handling a substantial workload related to site clearance.

Long Thanh Ward has identified site clearance as one of its key priorities and is making every effort to accelerate progress.
Efforts to complete a heavy workload
The Project to Upgrade and Expand Road 25B is one of Dong Nai City's key projects aimed at improving transport connectivity to Long Thanh Airport. The project runs through Long Thanh and Nhon Trach wards, with Long Thanh Ward responsible for acquiring nearly 7.6 hectares of land for construction. To date, the ward has completed the handover of more than 7.5 hectares, accounting for over 99% of the total area required. In coordination with relevant agencies, the locality has also paid more than VND61 billion in compensation and support to 145 of 191 affected cases.
For the project to expand the Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh Expressway, part of the Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway, Long Thanh Ward has so far handed over 98% of the approximately 3.9 hectares of land required for the project within the ward.
In mid-July 2026, Dong Nai City launched the Project to Upgrade and Expand Road 769. The section passing through Long Thanh Ward is about 8.1 kilometers long. To make way for construction, the ward must acquire more than 38 hectares of land from 362 households, individuals and organizations. During the site-clearance process, Long Thanh Ward, in coordination with relevant agencies, completed the issuance of land acquisition notices and land inventory for the entire project area. It has also completed verification of land origins for nearly 99% of the affected area. So far, nearly 20 hectares of cleared land have been handed over, representing more than 51% of the total area required for construction.
Le Hoang Son, Chairman of the Long Thanh Ward People's Committee, said that with numerous projects, including many key projects being implemented by the Central Government and the city in the area, Long Thanh Ward has had to coordinate efforts to handle a very large volume of site-clearance work. Meanwhile, the number of local officials and civil servants handling compensation procedures remains insufficient. Newly assigned officials also lack experience in processing compensation documents and have yet to fully understand the extensive area under their responsibility, resulting in delays in verifying land origins and handling complicated cases. However, given that site clearance has been identified as a particularly important priority, Long Thanh Ward has allocated maximum manpower to the task. In addition to accelerating document processing, the locality has established mobilization teams to communicate with residents and encourage them to hand over land early to facilitate project construction.
According to the Long Thanh Ward People's Committee, in addition to key projects, the locality is continuing compensation, support, resettlement and site-clearance work for 10 projects funded by the state budget and seven projects funded by non-state sources.
Building public consensus
Alongside projects currently undergoing compensation and site clearance, Long Thanh Ward is also preparing to launch clearance work for new projects, including several major and strategically important projects of the city.
Recently, the ward organized public meetings to disseminate information and gather residents' opinions on land-acquisition plans for projects to extend the Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien metro line to the city's administrative center and Long Thanh Airport (the section passing through the locality), as well as a project to improve drainage in areas outside the boundary of Long Thanh Airport (Phase 1).
In mid-August 2026, during a meeting with the Standing Board of the Long Thanh Ward Party Committee on socio-economic development, national defense and security during the first seven months of 2026, key tasks for the remainder of the year, and progress on major projects around Long Thanh Airport, Deputy Secretary of the Dong Nai City Party Committee Vo Tan Duc said Long Thanh Ward holds an exceptionally important position in the development space of Dong Nai City and the Southern key economic region. Long Thanh Ward serves as a gateway directly connecting to Long Thanh Airport and Ho Chi Minh City through major transport corridors. "With the transport system that has been and is being developed, Long Thanh Ward is in a highly favorable position to develop an airport city, an international trade and logistics service center, as well as smart, high-quality urban areas," Vo Tan Duc emphasized.
As Phase 1 of Long Thanh Airport is expected to begin operations by the end of 2026, Deputy Secretary Vo Tan Duc asked the locality to accelerate compensation and site clearance for key projects serving airport connectivity. He stressed that site clearance must be regarded as a particularly important political task involving the entire political system. The locality must therefore focus on completing land acquisition, compensation, support and resettlement, and handing over sites according to the schedules of key projects. "During the site clearance process, authorities must carry out effective mass mobilization, focus on dialogue with residents and clearly explain the policies to build consensus, thereby accelerating project implementation," Vo Tan Duc said.
