The Dong Nai People's Committee will assume responsibility for managing the entire park in accordance with the law. It will lead and coordinate with the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee to ensure consistent management of Cat Tien National Park as a whole, including the area within Lam Dong Province's administrative boundaries. This arrangement will remain in effect until the competent authorities decide on adjustments to the administrative boundaries between Dong Nai and Lam Dong. Management of the park must comply with regulations on forestry, land, natural resources, public assets, investment, state budget management and other relevant laws.
Covering nearly 72,000 hectares, Cat Tien National Park encompasses a diverse landscape of mountains, rivers, lakes and wetlands, along with forest habitats typical of southeastern Vietnam. The park is also rich in biodiversity, providing a habitat for numerous rare and endangered plant and animal species. The park is home to more than 1,700 animal species, including gaur, deer, elephants, black-shanked douc langurs, yellow-cheeked gibbons, pygmy lorises and wild boars. Its birdlife includes peafowl and pheasants. The park has more than 1,600 plant species, including valuable timber trees such as rosewood, padauk and species from the Dipterocarpaceae family.
