Dong Nai remains an attractive destination for foreign direct investment (FDI), thanks to its strategic location, transport and urban infrastructure, and well-developed network of industrial parks (IPs).

In the first nine months of 2026, total registered FDI in Dong Nai reached nearly US$2.4 billion, equivalent to almost 80% of the annual target. Registered investment was concentrated mainly in processing and manufacturing, supporting industries, and logistics. Major projects included Coherent, with registered capital of US$271 million, and Jabil and Mingsure, with US$80 million each.
Enhancing Dong Nai’s investment appeal
To attract FDI projects that use advanced technologies, engage in research and development (R&D), participate in supply chains, and generate high added value, Dong Nai is focusing on coordinated investment in industrial park and transport infrastructure, electricity and water supply systems, and the development of a highly skilled workforce. Through these efforts, the city is gradually enhancing its competitiveness and building an investment ecosystem supported by land reserves, a stable, green power supply, digital infrastructure, modern logistics, a highly skilled workforce, a network of domestic suppliers, and an efficient, transparent investment management environment.
Dong Nai is also strengthening partnerships with businesses and training institutions to prepare a workforce capable of meeting the needs of the semiconductor and high-tech industries.
The city is seeking to attract high-quality FDI projects that apply advanced, environmentally friendly technologies while strengthening links between foreign-invested enterprises and domestic businesses. These efforts are expected to create greater value locally and help Dong Nai integrate more deeply into global supply chains.
Pham Viet Phuong, Deputy Head of Dong Nai Industrial and Economic Zones Authority (DNIEZA)
Nguyen Huu Duc, Acting Director of the Skills Supply and Training Center under the DNIEZA, said workforce availability and supporting industries were among the main factors high-tech companies considered when evaluating Dong Nai as an investment destination. The center is working more closely with businesses, training institutions and relevant organizations to develop a skilled workforce that meets investors' evolving needs.
Developing a highly skilled workforce
For investors, access to skilled workers is a key factor in establishing and expanding operations, alongside location, infrastructure and administrative procedures. Dong Nai has therefore pursued various cooperation initiatives in recent years to develop a workforce that meets investors' needs.

The Skills Supply and Training Center recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Coherent Vietnam to develop talent for the semiconductor industry. According to Duc, the agreement will enable Dong Nai to pilot a model linking educational institutions, government agencies and high-tech companies, putting the city's human resource development strategy into practice.
Gan Yee Chun, General Director of Coherent Vietnam, said the company would work closely with local authorities, universities, colleges and other businesses to organize training programs and develop the workforce it needs. Coherent also plans to expand its investment in Dong Nai. Gan expressed hope that the local authorities would accelerate the development of transport, social and logistics infrastructure.
“Dong Nai will continue to be the main destination for Coherent Vietnam's investment. As we expand our operations, we will attract more talent, engineers and workers,” Gan Yee Chun said.
Pham Viet Phuong, Deputy Head of the DNIEZA, said Dong Nai was pursuing a more selective approach to FDI, prioritizing not only investment volume but also quality, efficiency and tangible economic contributions. This approach is in line with Politburo Resolution No. 10-NQ/TW, dated June 8, 2026, on the development of the FDI sector.
According to Phuong, this approach suits Dong Nai's development needs. With its extensive network of industrial parks and established manufacturing base, the city is well positioned to adopt a more selective investment strategy, focusing on electronics, semiconductors and digital equipment; artificial intelligence, big data and cloud computing; energy technologies and advanced materials; green industries; modern logistics; and high-value-added services.
FDI figures for the first nine months of 2026 reflect this shift, with investment projects spanning optical equipment, electronic components, communications equipment, data centers, artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure.
