Meeting workforce demand to support development

The recent conference on the implementation of the National Job Exchange and the launch of the Dong Nai Labour Leasing Business Association opened up new opportunities for connecting stakeholders, sharing information and making better use of labour market data nationwide.

For Dong Nai, one of Vietnam's largest industrial hubs with strong labour demand, connecting with the National Job Exchange is expected to further enhance a transparent, modern and efficient labour market.

Expanding opportunities to connect labour supply and demand

According to the Dong Nai Department of Home Affairs (DoHA), the city is home to 44 operational industrial parks, attracting investment from 51 countries and territories worldwide with more than 2,200 projects.

During the 2026-2030 period, Dong Nai aims to create jobs for around 500,000 people, raising the total number of employed workers in the economy to approximately 2.6 million. Achieving this target will require close coordination among state management agencies, businesses, vocational education institutions, and relevant organisations.

The conference marked an important step forward in the digital transformation of Vietnam's employment services. It also laid the foundation for an integrated labour supply-demand network connecting localities nationwide, helping improve workforce allocation. The platform will allow job seekers to access employment opportunities that match their qualifications, skills and career aspirations, while helping businesses shorten recruitment time. With timely, transparent and comprehensive labour market information, it is expected to ease labour shortages and support the sustainable development of the labour market.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Nguyen Manh Khuong said that in implementing Politburo Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation, the ministry had directed the Employment Department to work with relevant agencies to connect and verify population data for the pilot operation of the National Job Exchange. He described the platform as a key digital infrastructure for the labour market, helping build a comprehensive digital employment ecosystem.

"Dong Nai has enormous labour demand and plays a key role in connecting labour supply and demand across the Southeast region. Therefore, implementing the National Job Exchange in Dong Nai is significant not only for the locality but also for enhancing labour market connectivity nationwide," Nguyen Manh Khuong said.

However, she said Dong Nai should step up awareness campaigns so that both employees and employers fully understand the platform's benefits. Authorities should also provide guidance on registration and encourage businesses to update recruitment information regularly.

Meeting businesses' labour demand

Dong Nai's labour market has entered a vibrant phase in 2026 as businesses continue to expand recruitment, particularly in manufacturing, processing and export-oriented industries.

At the same time, the accelerated implementation of major infrastructure projects has created tens of thousands of new employment opportunities. Many enterprises have stepped up hiring to support production expansion and fulfil rising orders.

According to the DoHA, businesses across Dong Nai are expected to recruit more than 173,000 workers in 2026, nearly 20% higher than in 2025. Of these, more than 132,000 positions are for unskilled workers. Sectors with the highest recruitment demand include garment and textile, footwear, wood processing, handicrafts, plastics, services, electrical equipment, and electronics manufacturing. In addition to demand from manufacturers, major infrastructure projects, particularly Long Thanh International Airport, are expected to generate thousands of additional employment opportunities.

To implement Resolution No. 05 of the City Party Committee’s Executive Board on the 500-day special emulation campaign themed "Solidarity – Discipline – Efficiency – Breakthrough for a civilised and modern Dong Nai", the DoHA has directed the Dong Nai Employment Service Centre and more than 2,400 collaborators across communes and wards to continue working with universities and vocational training institutions to establish 11 career information corners at universities and intermediate schools to attract potential workers. The department has also developed an employment app to facilitate faster and more effective connections between employers and job seekers.

To achieve the city's target of 2.6 million employed workers by 2030, the DoHA aims to create jobs and provide employment services for 40,000–42,000 workers each year. During the 2026-2030 period, it plans to provide employment support for 160,000-168,000 workers, thereby ensuring an adequate workforce to contribute to Dong Nai City's socio-economic development.

The department is promoting the establishment of the Dong Nai Labour Leasing Business Association to help secure temporary workers, particularly for labour-intensive industries such as wood processing, footwear, and garment manufacturing. In mid-June 2026, the association held its first congress with 70 enterprises registering as members. It is expected to serve as a core organization linking businesses with state management agencies while promoting cooperation in workforce development across Dong Nai.

Dang Hoang Giang, Chairman of Dong Nai Labour Leasing Business Association, said the association is expected to serve as a bridge between labour leasing companies, government agencies and the wider business community. Through this role, the association will help standardize labor leasing services, improve workforce quality, safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of workers, and better meet businesses' growing demand for a flexible workforce solutions as Dong Nai enters a new stage of development.
