Notably, Dong Nai boasts a well-developed and integrated transport network encompassing all five modes: road, air, rail, maritime and inland waterways. In particular, the Long Thanh International Airport project, spanning 5,000 hectares with a designed capacity of 100 million passengers and 5 million tons of cargo per year, is among the largest projects of its kind in Southeast Asia and is expected to open up new growth opportunities for the province.
In 2025, Dong Nai recorded strong and broad-based results. Its economy maintained strong growth at 9.63%, the highest in the Southeast region, while economic scale continued to expand. State budget revenue surpassed VND100 trillion for the first time, and both domestic and foreign investment inflows posted impressive gains.

Addressing the meeting, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang noted that her working delegation was among the first central-level missions to visit Dong Nai following the issuance of Resolution No. 03-NQ/TW dated March 25, 2026 at the second plenum of the 14th Party Central Committee, which approved the policy to establish Dong Nai as a centrally governed city. She described this as a strategic decision, marking a new stature and position for the province in the country’s development in the new era, particularly in the fields of aviation and logistics.
With a view to strengthening connectivity and attracting investment into Dong Nai, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed her expectation that Vietnam’s representative agencies abroad would serve as an “extended arm” of the province and its business community in promoting investment linkages. She also underlined the need for Dong Nai to step up investment promotion, enhance its international profile and organize large-scale global events, especially in the lead-up to APEC 2027.

Providing updates on the province’s current situation and its development strategy, Secretary of the PPC Vu Hong Van emphasized that Dong Nai is the largest locality in southern Vietnam by area and is often described as a “miniature Viet Nam” due to its diverse population drawn from across the country. The province is home to a large religious community, particularly Catholics, alongside other religious groups, all of whom contribute positively to socio-economic development with a strong sense of patriotism and community values.
Importantly, Dong Nai is in the process of transitioning toward a centrally governed city model, with preparations underway for modern urban governance and an ambition to develop into one of Vietnam’s future megacities.
The province encompasses all four key economic sectors: the state, collective, private and foreign-invested sectors. Over more than four decades of renewal, Dong Nai has emerged as a leading industrial hub, with representatives of many big provinces and cities visiting to learn from its experience in industrial park management and development. It has consistently been among the nation’s economic locomotives in contributing to national economic growth and state budget revenues.
Building on this foundation, provincial leaders have introduced practical and forward-looking solutions to drive breakthroughs, particularly in investment cooperation. In practice, each investment agreement, business partnership and investment policy undertaken by the province serves as a message of goodwill from the provincial authorities to both domestic and international investors.

Reaffirming the province’s commitment, Secretary of the PPC Vu Hong Van stated that Dong Nai will develop large-scale industrial parks with strong competitive advantages, attracting investment across multiple sectors, with priority given to semiconductors and high-tech industries. Among the four economic sectors, the private sector and FDI enterprises are expected to play a central role in Dong Nai’s economy.
Furthermore, the province is committed to creating a more open investment climate, characterized by streamlined procedures, low investment costs, high investment efficiency, and balanced interests between the State and investors, thereby establishing a transparent legal framework among enterprises, investors, and the State.

Following the central government’s approval, Dong Nai is set to establish a new centrally governed city comprising 95 wards and communes. For the 2026–2030 period, the province targets sustained double-digit growth across key economic sectors. At the same time, it will continue to preserve and promote cultural, historical and human values, aiming to build a more balanced and sustainable development model.
