On April 2, the Dong Nai provincial People’s Committee held a ceremony to kick off banana exports and promote agricultural exports in 2026 in Bau Ham commune.

The event was attended by Nguyen Thi Hoang, member of the Provincial Party Committee (PPC) and Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee, along with Le Viet Binh, Deputy Chief of the Southern Office of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, and leaders of provincial departments, sectors, localities, industry associations, enterprises, cooperatives and banana farmers across the province.

Dong Nai currently has nearly 21,000 hectares of banana plantations, with an annual output of over 900,000 tonnes and an average yield of around 55 tonnes per hectare. The province has 54 planting area codes covering nearly 7,300 hectares, along with 37 export-standard banana packing facility codes. Notably, around 80% of total output is exported, with key markets including China, South Korea, Japan and Malaysia.

At the ceremony, 11 containers carrying 220 tonnes of Cavendish bananas were dispatched to major export markets such as Japan, South Korea and China.

The event aims to introduce and promote fresh bananas and other key agricultural products of Dong Nai to international markets, strengthening linkages between producers and export enterprises in Vietnam and other countries, while gradually building the Dong Nai agricultural brand. It also provides a platform for stakeholders to exchange experience in agricultural production and business, thereby expanding opportunities for investment, trade cooperation and the promotion of farm produce, particularly fresh banana products.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang described the ceremony as an important milestone in promoting the province’s high-quality fruit products. She noted that it serves as a bridge connecting policymakers, scientists, businesses and farmers, fostering cooperation, knowledge-sharing and market expansion.

In addition to bananas, Dong Nai boasts a range of key export-oriented agricultural products. In 2025, exports of cashew nuts reached nearly 2.8 billion USD, coffee nearly 1.6 billion USD, rubber over 1.3 billion USD, and wood and wooden products nearly 1.7 billion USD.

Agricultural exports have increasingly affirmed the province’s position on the global export map. Looking ahead, the agricultural sector will continue to prioritize the development of high-tech and organic farming in tandem with processing industries and consumer markets. At the same time, efforts will be stepped up to promote digital transformation, apply advanced technologies in production and post-harvest preservation, and develop concentrated production zones linked with branding and market diversification.
