(ĐN)- According to Dong Nai Branch of the State Bank of Vietnam, the province-based banks provided loans totaling VND3,270 billion to local new rural construction projects
Of the total, production loans accounted for about 48% at VND1,566 billion, housing loans reached nearly VND79 billion, and more than VND32 billion for projects to supply clean water and enhance rural environmental hygiene.
After five years implementing a national programme on new rural development, Dong Nai province is leading southern localities in terms of meeting criteria on new rural area construction thanks to thanks to joint efforts of the local authorities and people in making use of every possible resource for local community development.
Over the past years, the provincial localities have made efforts to mobilise all social resources for building new style rural areas besides investment from the State budget.
Chairman Le Van Thu of Long Khanh town People’s Committee said that his locality received an investment of VND1,133 billion, to upgrade the local infrastructure. Of the sum, VND510 billion was sourced from the budget and VND623 billion from society.
Similarly, Xuan Loc district has succeeded in mobilising contributions to its new rural development. Local households donated their land, money and contributed their labour to building welfare facilities and making roads. Together with people, businesses play a very important role in the district’s new rural development. The Cu Lao Xanh Co. Ltd, for example, has contributed VND270 million to build infrastructure of transport.
However, greater efforts are needed in order to achieve the set target of having all communes across the province meet all the criteria for new rural areas.
