There is a decline in land devoted to cashew cultivation because local farmers have cut down old and low yield cashew and switched to cultivate other crops such as rubber, corn and cassava that generate greater income. Despite of high price of cashew nuts in 2011, farmers only get a profit of nearly VND 20 million every hectare of cashew after the production cost is deducted. Profits earned from growing corn and cassava which are 1.5 times or two times higher than that from growing cashew.

Cashew is mainly grown in the three districts of Xuan Loc, Dinh Quan and Trang Bom.
