(ĐN)- The price of poultry eggs in Bien Hoa city rose significantly last week, according to Bien Hoa city’s market management authorities. The price of duck eggs has increased by 4,000 VND per 10 eggs to 30,000 VND. Local traders said with the Autumn Festival approaching both in China and Viet Nam, there was a huge demand for salted duck eggs – an important ingredient in the moon cake that is a festival specialty. Some businesses in the southwestern provinces have collected large quantities of fresh eggs to make salted duck eggs for export to China. The increasing unofficial export of many kinds of food items including poultry eggs to China has pushed their prices up in the local market.
The prices of vegetables like cabbage, gourd, salad and others have also jumped sharply.
Pork prices remain high, with thigh and bacon costing VND98,000 per kilo and loin costing VND105,000 per kilo.
