(ĐN)- Farmers in Dong Nai province cultivated nearly 24,600 hectares for the 2010-2011 winter-spring crop with an average yield of over 7 tonnes per hectare. Due to high corn price, local farmers have expanded the area under corn cultivation. Most of farmers in the province cultivated high-yield corn varieties known as G49, NK 67, C919…for the winter-spring crop. The largest cultivation areas in the province included the four districts of
Presently, the corn prices in the province stay between VND 7,200 and VND 7,300 a kilogram, up VND 400- VND 500 when compared to the beginning of May 2011. Especially, some farmers in the province achieved a yield of over 10 tonnes per hectare and they can get a profit of over VND 50 million per hectare after the production cost is deducted.
