(ĐN)- Retail pork prices in Bien Hoa city have surged by VND3,000-VND5,000 per kilo when compared to the beginning of the week, to VND98,000 for thigh and bacon, VND115,000 –120,000 for ribs and VND105,000 for loin. The pork prices were surged because prices for live pigs have jumped by VND1,000-2,000 per kilo, according to local traders.

Director of Foodstuff Processing Factory (D&F) Nguyen Tuan Phuong said that  the price for live pigs has reached its highest level ever recorded in Dong Nai province to VND 62,000 per kilo. Phuong also said that there is currently no supply shortage and there will be no further increase in prices because a rise in prices will cause the purchasing power of local residents to fall.

The prices of some food items in Bien Hoa city have also slightly increased in recent days.

The price of poultry eggs has jumped by VND1,000 –2,000 VND per 10 eggs.

The price of sugar has surged by VND1,000 VND per kilo to VND 23,000.
