(ĐN)- Vietnam’s export turnover in the first eight months of this year reached almost US$44.52 billion, an increase of 19.7 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the General Department of Customs.

Exports form the foreign-invested enterprises hit US$17.67 billion, a year-on-year increase of 40 percent.
Many export commodities posted impressive year-on-year growth in both volume and revenue. Particularly, textile and garment up more than US$1billion, footwear, US$510 million, wood and wood products, US$559 million, rubber, US$543 million, iron and steel, US$465 million, etc.
The trade deficit hit a record US$8.15 billion during the same period, an increase of US$700 million compared with last month’s figure. Excessive imports helped push the total to 18.3 percent of the years total export turnover.
