(ĐN)- Dong Nai’s corn growers say that they are harvesting their summer-autumn crop. Local farmers cultivated nearly 25,000 hectares of corn for the 2009-2010 summer-autumn crop. Dong Nai province as a whole expects to harvest over 142,000 tonnes of corn in this year’s crop
The corn price presently stays between VND 5,600 and VND 5,800 a kilogram. With this price, local farmers can get a profit of VND 16-18 million every hectare of corn after the production cost is deducted. Especially, some farmers in districts of Cam My, Long Khanh and Xuan Loc achieved a yield of over 7 tonnes per hectare and they can get a profit of over VND 25 million per hectare after the production cost is deducted.
