(ĐN)- As reported in PPI Pulp and Paper International magazine in January 2010, the Tan Mai Paper Group Joint Stock Company ranked among five companies to watch in Asia. Despite impacts of the global financial crisis, many companies in the pulp and paper industry in Asia is planning to invest in expansions and new projects. In Vietnam, the Tan Mai Paper Group Joint Stock Company is an emerging company in the pulp and paper industry with many new investment projects, according to PPI. Tan Mai will play a major role in making changes in import and export ratios of paper products in Vietnam. Every year, the country imports around 948,000 tonnes of paper and board while 81,000 tonnes of paper products are exported to other countries from Vietnam.

Chairman of Tan Mai Paper Group Joint Stock Company Tran Duc Thinh said that Tan Mai would invest around VND 6 trillion to build new pulp and paper mills across the country. Among these projects, some projects are under construction such as the Tan Mai – Kon Tum Pulp and Paper Mill with a capacity of 130,000 tonnes of pulp a year in Kon Tum province, a paper mill with a capacity of 200,000 tonnes of paper products per year in Lam Dong province while some are going on such as Long Thanh-Dong Nai paper mill with a capacity of 150,000 tonnes a year in Long Thanh district, Dong Nai province to be built by late March, a pulp and paper mill with a capacity of 150,000 tonnes of newsprint paper and 100,000 tones of pulp a year in Quang Ngai province to be built in June this year.
