Dong Nai registered an increased of 9 percent in its industrial production value to over VND71 trillion in the first ten months of this year while the province’s total retail sales of goods and services during the same period recorded an increase of 21.4 per cent over the same period in 2008.
The province’s consumer price index in October rose by 0.29 percent over the previous month.

Due to the adverse impacts of the global economic crisis, the province’s export turnover in the reviewed period was just 92.8 percent of the same period last year while the import turnover in the province decreased more sharply. However, the province’s export and import turnover in the first ten months of the year increased compared with previous months and these figures showed positive signs for the local economy.
Over the past ten months, Dong Nai has attracted US$2.78 billion in FDI, an increase of 6.7 per cent over the same period of last year. During the same period, the province also saw more than VND51.6 trillion in domestic investment capital, representing a 2.8 per cent increase year on year.
Chairman Vo Van Mot asked the departments, agencies and localities’ authorities to make more efforts to curb the economic slowdown and he also urged for concerted efforts to control inflation as well as urged local relevant agencies to identify and implement strategies to manage difficulties to achieve set goals for 2009.
