(ĐN)- On September 7, Deputy Minister of Finance Tran Xuan Ha led a central delegation to pay a working visit to Dong Nai province to find out about the equitization of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in the province. The delegation was received by Standing Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Le Hong Phuong and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Tran Minh Phuc.

Deputy Minister Tran Xuan Ha highly appreciated achievements in reforming SOEs that the province had attained over the past years. SOEs in Dong Nai have operated more effectively after they were equitized. The survey conducted on equitized companies showed the business performance has been improved and been of great benefit. The employees in equitized enterprises have stable jobs and increased average income in comparison with the time before equitization. The operation of Party cells, trade unions and other political and social organisations in SOEs after equitization achieved higher efficiency.

The delegation urged local authorities to further accelerate the equitization of SOEs and consider the effect of parent-subsidiary model in order to develop more companies following this model. According to the statistics provided by Dong Nai province’s Board of Enterprise Reform and Development, by the end of 2001 there were 65 SOEs and the province’s 54 SOEs have been equitized so far. Especially, 3 SOEs including Corporation for the development of Bien Hoa Industrial Zone (SONADEZI) and Dong Nai Import Export Processing Agricultural Product Company (Donafoods) and Tan Mai Paper company have adopted parent-subsidiary model.  By late 2008, these three companies had the total chartered capital of over 3,8 trillion VND, an increase of nearly 60 per cent compared to before equitization. In 2008, their profits climbed 180 percent to over VND 966 billion and turnover increased 123.76 percent to over 8.8 trillion VND compared to before equitization.
