Dong Nai’s service sector witnessed a growth of 17.3 per cent in 2008, accounting for 31.5 per cent of the provinces total GDP. The province’s total retail sales of goods and services in 2008 is estimated to reach over VND36,5 billion, 35 percent higher than that of last year. Around 1,500 new service companies were established in the province last year, creating about 10000 new jobs. In addition, the province absorbed 15 tourism development projects with a total investment of US$ 1.7 billion.
At the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Dinh Quoc Thai highly praised the achievement recorded by the service sector in 2008. He also pointed out the need for the service sector to closely cooperate with local agencies and economic organizations to make good its shortcomings in order to reach the goal set for 2009.
