Dong Nai’s initiatives launched to help businesses survive

(ĐN)- Dong Nai’s economic growth tended to slow down in the first two months of this year due to the global economic recession. Between January and February of this year, the province’s industrial production saw only an increase of nearly 10% over the same period last year.

Between January and February of this year, the province’s industrial production saw only an increase of nearly 10% over the same period last year. In addition, there was also a slight rise in exports, investment coming from domestic and foreign investors and domestic consumption, but representing a substantially lower growth rate than in previous years.

At a meeting held on February 24, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Vo Van Mot directed relevant agencies to take necessary measures to help small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) overcome their difficulties so as to stabilize production and preserve jobs. The Chairman pointed out the need to take measures to prevent the economic downturn as well as boost production and business activities. He also urged local agencies to increase efforts to speed up administrative reforms as well as to help businesses expand production and boost exports…

The following day, on February 25, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Dinh Quoc Thai chaired a meeting with 150 representatives from local banks and firms to discuss on implementing the interest-subsidy programme.

Commercial banks in Dong Nai are implementing effectively the Government’s interest subsidy to help struggling enterprises, with tax reduction and exemption being implemented.

At the meeting, many representatives of local banks and firms raised their queries about beneficiaries of the interest-subsidy programme and the lending conditions.

According to Tran Quoc Tuan, Director of Dong Nai branch of the State Bank of Viet Nam said that the banks will try their best to help enterprises quickly access the subsidised loans but they also ensure that loans are being used for the purposes stated in loan applications. He also said that Viet Nam Development Bank (VDB) will provide enterprises with loan guarantees to help them borrow loans from commercial banks.
