Pineapple cultivation helps farmer gain income of 70 million VND per ha per year

(ĐN)- Nguyen Van An moved to live in hamlet 1, Phuoc Khanh commune of Nhon Trach district in Dong Nai province in 2001. An rent land to cultivate Queen and Cayenne pineapples. An said it took him five years to develop and test cultivation of Queen and Cayenne pineapples in alum soil.

 

Currently, he has sought measures to plant Queen and Cayenne pineapples in alum soil. Hence, he has expanded the area under pineapple cultivation to 6 hectares.

 

According to the experience from An, the cultivation of Queen and Cayenne pineapples is easy and a hectare of land can be planted with as many as 30,000 trees. He said the pineapples can be harvested within 12 to 13 months after planting, giving a profit of about 70 million VND per hectare per year.

 

An said happily that his family gained large benefits from the cultivation of pineapples and has escaped from the poverty and become rich.
