The HCM City People’s Committee has sought Government approval to build an expressway linking the southern provinces with HCM City. The 59-km expressway, which will allow vehicles to travel at 120km per hour, will run from Tien Giang Province’s Trung Luong, through Long An Province’s Ben Luc District and HCM City’s Binh Chanh and Nha Be districts, to Dong Nai Province’s Nhon Trach and Long Thanh districts. The road, work on which will begin in 2008 and be completed in 2010, will cost around VND19.6 trillion (US$1.22 billion).
