Dong Nai’s Most Significant Economic Events in 2005

The parent-subsidiary structure has been first-ever adopted for Dong Nai’s State-owned enterprises (SOEs) which were re-classified their organizations as parent-subsidiary companies under the Government’s SOEs restructuring plan.

2.       Dong Nai province made the first-ever visit to the US for promoting investment. The Dong Nai trade promotion delegation gained much success from investment promotion seminars that left a deep impression on US businesses.

3.      The Long Thanh Golf Investment and Business Joint Stock Company is built with 100% Vietnamese owned capital now totaling VND 155 billion. Singaporean Premed Investments decided to transfer its stakes in the Long Thanh Golf Club in Dong Nai Province to its Vietnamese partner.

4.      The first-ever ceremony to honor Dong Nai province’s outstanding businesses was held at the provincial meeting-hall on October 12.

5.       Public bus transportation funded by the provincial budget has been expanded rapidly. Its broad reach extends to all districts throughout the province. An increase in transit investment have dramatically improved and expanded public bus services, attracting record numbers of passengers in urban and rural areas alike.

6.      Extended street No.5 project (presently known as Vo Thi Sau street) was completed to mark the 30th anniversary of the southern liberation and national unification (April 30) after a delay of ten years.

7.       Confronting the bird flu outbreak, Dong Nai province has taken effective measures of prevention and monitoring. The province has implemented the preventative measures across the province, large-scale outbreak or spread of the bird flu has not been occurred during the year.

8.      The year 2005 marked the 10th anniversary of operations of many foreign–invested companies in Dong Nai province such as Fujitsu computer products of Vietnam (FCV), Plus Vietnam Ltd., Cargill Vietnam …. FCV is one of 5 leading exporters (excluding exports of crude oils) in Vietnam for 9 consecutive years. The company recorded an export turnover of over US$ 500 million per annum.

9.       The Provincial People’s Committee has released the provincial atlas which was collection of provincial maps in paperback book format. This book provides a comprehensive overview of Dong Nai province including information on its geography, culture, and economy....

10.   The Provincial highway 16 project with its length of 9 km was deployed by the Civil Engineering Construction Corporation 5 (Cienco 5). This project was running for nearly 5 years with BOT basis (Build-Operate-Transfer) funding, however, it has not yet checked and taken over.
