Vietnamese enterprises have so far invested in more than 130 projects abroad with a combined investment capital of US$300mil.

Among 30 countries and territories Vietnamese enterprises have invested in, Iraq has drawn the biggest investment capital with $100mil. It was followed by Laos with 41 projects capitalised at $85mil, and Russia with 11 projects worth more than $38mil.

 

Vietnamese enterprises have mainly invested in industrial production (42 percent) and services (40 percent).

 

Recently, the Ministry of Planning and Investment has granted licenses to three investment projects by Vietnamese enterprises. They are a project to explore oil and gas at Lot PM 304 in Malaysia, of which the Vietnam Oil and Gas Corporation is an investor; a project to process wood and open a supermarket in South Africa by Ho Chi Minh City’s Viet Trang Company with a total investment of $950,000 and a project to explore salt mines in Laos with an investment capital of more than $3mil.
