(ĐN)- July 18, Dong Nai Department of Planning and Investment held meeting to commend advanced individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the patriot emulation movements for 2000-2005 period. Addressing at the meeting, chairman of the Provincial Peoples’ Committee Vo Van Mot highly praised the department’s role in promoting local economic and social development during the past five years.
At present, the department made up strategy of economic growth towards 2010 which included expanding and developing local industrial parks, attracting domestic and foreign investments, managing construction and investment projects etc. At the meeting, the chairman also emphasized that economic development strategies and plannings as proposed by the department staff aimed to respond requests for rapid growth and change in the local economy and society. This helped local government preparing suitable policies for accelerating local economic growth.
At the same time, the department set the target in the period of 2006-2010. Particularly, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the province will rise by 14% -14.5% over the next five years. Until 2010, the GDP per capita will increase over twofold compared with that of 2005. In the coming years, the provincial economy will be changed basically and entirely according to industrialization and modernization tendency. By 2010, the capacities of industry – construction, agriculture-forest-pisciculture and services will make up 57%, 9%, 34%. The total social investment in the whole province will account for 42% of the GDP growth rate over the next five years. In order to hit the goal, the province should take care the following innovative solutions: suitable policy in appraising and managing investment projects, regulations geared towards creating a favorable investment environment, incentives to encourage investment both from at home and abroad, to reform public administration and remove bureaucratic hurdles and so on. Especially, the province plans to attract foreign direct investment worth 6,000 billion VND and the domestic investment with registered capitals of 1,700 billion VND during the next five years.
