Trang Bom’s economy structure: towards balanced development

(ĐN) - June 28, the district People’s Committee held a meeting with its purpose of evaluating the patriotic emulation movement for the period 2000-2005 and launching the next movement towards 2006-2010 period. The Provincial Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Chairman Duong Minh Nga was present at the meeting.

During the past 5 years, thanks to efforts of the Trang Bom people and executive officers, the district has achieved a healthy local economy that promoted social development in order to raise the people’s cultural life and social order. Accordingly, the rapid growth of the economy in the period from 2000 to 2005 with its average annual GDP, rising 16.54%, is remarkable. The new orientation towards poverty reduction is the most dramatically. The number of low–income families in the district decreased from 11.19 % in 2000 to 2.68% in 2005. The economy has been changed gradually towards industrialization and modernization. Up to now, the capacities of industry – construction, commerce – services and agriculture made up 53.76%, 24.3% and 22.2%. At present, the district has set up 3 industrial zones, 6 craft-trades and industrial areas. These areas attracted 115 projects that have come into operation. This helps creating jobs for nearly 17.500 employees. Besides, the district also concentrates on upgrading its infrastructure, supplying electricity to the people in the remote region, repairing damaged schools and building new ones with a total of 800 classrooms etc. The living standards of the district people have been raised higher than before. At the same time, the poor and beneficiary of social welfare are taken care well by the local authority. 97 houses have been built for war invalids or martyrs families and another 588 houses for the local poor.

With the above achievements, the district was conferred with the title of “Hero of the People’s Armed forces” and awarded the 2nd grade Labor Medal by the State.
