In 2026, Binh Tan Commune is allocated more than 42 billion VND in public investment capital to implement 12 projects in transportation, education, science and technology, digital transformation, and policy credit. Work on these projects is being accelerated to improve infrastructure, enhance educational quality, improve people's living conditions, and create momentum for local socioeconomic development.

Doan Thi Mai Xuan, Deputy Secretary of the Binh Tan Commune Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Commune People's Committee, said the commune selects investment projects based on their urgency, potential for connectivity, and post-investment effectiveness. Given its limited resources, the commune prioritizes projects that meet practical needs, directly benefit local residents, and lay the foundation for further development.
Prioritizing transportation infrastructure
Binh Tan covers a large area, and its transport system still faces numerous challenges, making it necessary to upgrade key roads while addressing problems related to road surfaces, drainage, and landslides.
According to Doan Thi Mai Xuan, major transportation projects in 2026 include upgrading and expanding the Long Hung–Long Binh road, from Km 00+00 to Km 2+220; upgrading and expanding the Phuoc Thinh–Binh Hieu inter-village road; and constructing a new road connecting Long Ha and Bu Ka Lake.
Among these, the project to upgrade and expand the Phuoc Thinh–Binh Hieu inter-village road (currently Binh Tan 4 Village) is being accelerated by the contractor with strong support from local residents. The road stretches nearly 1.2 kilometers, and its surface is being widened from 3 meters to 6 meters. A solidly built drainage system is also being installed along both sides of the road. The project has a total investment of more than 10 billion VND.
The family of Ho Thanh Cua, a resident of Binh Tan 4 Village, owns property with 50 meters of frontage along the road. Cua said the road surface had previously deteriorated severely, with numerous potholes and sharp stones making travel difficult. Because of the road's steep gradient, rainwater would flow into low-lying areas during the rainy season, carrying soil, rocks, and waste into residents' homes. "Now that construction has begun, the entire residential area, comprising hundreds of households, is delighted," said Cua.
Local residents' consensus has been a key factor in facilitating the project's early implementation. Le Quang Day, a resident of Binh Tan 4 Village, said local residents strongly supported the project when authorities announced the investment policy and called on households to donate land. A total of 136 households in the village were affected. Most voluntarily dismantled gate pillars and fences and relocated structures approximately 2–3 meters farther back. Many households incurred losses worth hundreds of millions of VND but nevertheless agreed to hand over the sites for construction. As a result, site clearance reached 100%.
Tran Tan Chien, a technical officer working on the project, said, "The contractor is prioritizing construction of the drainage system before proceeding with the roadbed. Overall construction progress has exceeded 40%. What is most encouraging is the support and cooperation of local residents. We always take our responsibilities seriously, ensure construction quality and put in place all necessary safety barriers to ensure traffic safety during construction."
Investing in school facilities
Alongside transportation infrastructure, Binh Tan Commune is prioritizing investment capital to improve facilities at the main campus and branch campuses of Binh Tan Primary School.
Nguyen Duong Phong, Principal of Binh Tan Primary School, said the school comprises one main campus and three branch campuses, serving nearly 2,000 students. Following the merger, both the main campus and its branch campuses continue to face numerous difficulties related to their facilities. To address these challenges, the Commune People's Committee is investing nearly 20 billion VND in building 19 classrooms, a library, two administrative offices, and auxiliary facilities at the branch campuses.

"Once completed and put into operation, these facilities will meet the school's needs for physical facilities and help it fulfil the criteria for national-standard school recognition," said Phong.
At Branch Campus No. 2, investment in nine new classrooms, a library, two administrative and management rooms, and auxiliary facilities is particularly significant, as many existing facilities have deteriorated severely. Nguyen Thi Thuy, Vice Principal in charge of Branch Campus No. 2, said the classrooms were built decades ago, while desks, electrical systems, and teaching equipment have become outdated. Two classrooms no longer meet requirements for use and have been closed and cordoned off to ensure safety.
"The school is delighted that the Commune People's Committee is investing in these facilities. We hope the project will be completed and put into operation soon so that teaching and learning can proceed smoothly and continue to improve," said Thuy.
A representative of the construction unit at Branch Campus No. 2 stated that, although the contractor began construction during the rainy season, they have proactively arranged work to accelerate progress. So far, the walls have been built and concrete beams and floor slabs have been poured, while preparations are underway for plastering and tiling. Approximately 60% of the construction workload has been completed. The contractor has been committed to completing the project in March 2027 but is striving to finish ahead of schedule.
Doan Thi Mai Xuan noted that despite challenges in investment preparations and delays in several projects, the commune has disbursed over 33 billion VND, which is more than 78% of its public investment capital plan for 2026.
Commune leaders have instructed project owners and contractors to accelerate construction, complete the remaining work and prepare acceptance documentation in accordance with regulations, and strive to achieve the best possible disbursement results in 2026.
"The allocation of public investment capital is of great significance to the development of Binh Tan Commune. During implementation, the commune is determined not to sacrifice quality in the pursuit of disbursement targets. Once completed, the projects must deliver effective investment outcomes, meet local development needs, and bring tangible benefits to residents."
