The flight inspections and calibration of navigation aids and airfield lighting systems at Long Thanh Airport were carried out by the Flight Inspection and Calibration Center under the Air Traffic Technical Company Limited, using a Beechcraft B300/B350 aircraft with the call sign CBA35. The operations focused on assessing the performance of navigation systems and aviation lighting serving Runways 05R/23L.

Specifically, on October 12, the aircraft conducted test flights for the instrument landing system and distance measuring equipment (ILS/DME), the precision approach path indicator (PAPI), the approach lighting system (ALS) for Runway 05R/ 3L, and the Long Thanh DVOR/DME system. On October 13, flight inspections and calibration continued for the ILS/DME 05R, PAPI 05R, and ALS 05R/23L approach lighting systems.

All scheduled test flights were completed without any irregularities. The results provide a basis for specialized units to compile and assess the equipment's technical parameters, supporting subsequent preparations for the commencement of commercial operations at Long Thanh Airport.

To ensure absolute safety throughout the operations, the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) directed relevant units to proactively prepare personnel, air traffic control procedures, technical systems, and aeronautical meteorological information, while maintaining close coordination with units responsible for managing and operating airport infrastructure and equipment.

According to VATM, the Long Thanh Air Traffic Control Center, which is directly responsible for air traffic management operations at Long Thanh Airport, proactively deployed personnel, prepared vehicles and equipment, and established coordination procedures among air traffic control facilities.

The Tan Son Nhat Approach Control Center and the Long Thanh Air Traffic Control Center maintained uninterrupted communication and coordination in receiving, handling, and transferring air traffic control responsibility in accordance with approved operational plans.

Unlike regular commercial flights, flight inspection and calibration operations require specific flight paths and operational procedures. Alongside their air traffic control duties, the units also focused on verifying the readiness of technical systems supporting flight operations.

According to VATM, the results of this flight inspection and calibration contribute to completing the technical foundation required to bring Long Thanh Airport into operation. Building on these results, specialized units will continue to consolidate and evaluate inspection data, implement subsequent technical steps and regulatory procedures, and progressively complete the necessary conditions for providing air navigation services at the airport.
