From cleaning roads, installing streetlights and planting flowers to presenting new houses and breeding cows to disadvantaged households, officials and members of Farmers' Union organizations at all levels across the city have undertaken numerous practical activities to contribute to social welfare work.

Although these activities vary in nature, they share a common objective: improving members' lives and building an increasingly bright, green, clean, beautiful and compassionate homeland.

Practical contributions

These days, officials and members of the Minh Duc Commune Farmers' Union have been taking part in environmental cleanup activities along rural roads. Some remove roadside bushes, others collect garbage, while others clear drainage ditches and maintain the surrounding landscape. Though seemingly small, these efforts have helped make local roads cleaner and more accessible.

In celebration of the 96th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Farmers' Union (October 14, 1930–2026), the Minh Duc Commune Farmers' Union launched a campaign to implement the "Bright – Green – Clean – Beautiful" model across local hamlets. Following each cleanup session, the changes are evident not only in cleaner roads but also in residents' growing awareness of environmental protection.

In the third quarter of 2026, Farmers' Union organizations at all levels across the city supported the purchase of 17 health insurance cards for members, at a total cost of nearly VND35 million. In coordination with local authorities and benefactors, they also mobilized resources to present more than 2,000 gifts worth nearly VND650 million, providing timely encouragement and assistance to farmers and members facing difficulties and helping them stabilize their lives.

From the clean, green roads of Minh Duc Commune to the well-lit route in Phuoc Tan Ward, the spirit of collective responsibility toward the community continues to spread. Recently, the Phuoc Tan Ward Farmers' Union, in coordination with Huong Phuoc Quarter, installed eight solar-powered streetlights and spread crushed stone along a road section approximately 400 meters long, making travel more convenient for local residents. In Tan Cang Quarter, numerous Farmers' Union members and residents also joined efforts to plant flowers along a road section approximately one kilometer long. The project cost around VND150 million and was funded by budget allocations and mobilized social resources.

Meanwhile, in Binh Tan Commune, Tran Thi My, a member of the Commune Farmers' Union, coordinated with the union to present five breeding cows to five disadvantaged member households. The assistance has created opportunities for the recipients to develop additional livelihoods, improve livestock production conditions and increase their incomes.

Similarly, seeking to help members stabilize their lives, the Loc Hung Commune Farmers' Union recently handed over two houses to the families of Thi Cay, 56, residing in Soc Lon Hamlet, and Lam E, 64, residing in Loc Khanh Hamlet. The two houses were built at a combined cost of VND300 million.

For Thi Cay, receiving the new house brought immense joy after her family had spent years living in a temporary, dilapidated dwelling. Whenever it rained, water leaked throughout the house. The new home has not only provided her family with stable accommodation but also given her greater peace of mind and motivation to work.

Greater attention to social welfare

A common feature of these activities is that Farmers' Union organizations at all levels not only mobilize their members to participate but also create opportunities for residents to contribute to collective efforts. Whether installing a streetlight, repairing a road, planting flowers or building a house, each undertaking reflects the solidarity and joint contributions of many people.

Luong Thi Cam Nhung, Chairwoman of the Phuoc Tan Ward Farmers' Union, said the streetlighting and road improvement projects have not only facilitated travel for residents but also contributed to maintaining security and order, ensuring traffic safety and improving the urban landscape. More importantly, she noted, the implementation of these projects has promoted residents' proactive participation in accordance with the motto: “The people know, the people discuss, the people do, the people inspect, the people supervise, and the people benefit.”

Throughout the implementation, the Phuoc Tan Ward Farmers' Union has consistently attracted strong interest and active participation from local residents. In the coming period, the ward-level union will continue coordinating efforts to identify deteriorating roads and mobilize residents to fill potholes, carry out repairs and replicate effective models and practices.

Similarly, the social welfare and environmental protection activities recently undertaken by the Minh Duc Commune Farmers' Union have delivered practical benefits, demonstrating the solidarity and sense of responsibility of its officials and members toward the community. Guided by the spirit of "One member, one good deed; one chapter, one practical project," the Minh Duc Commune Farmers' Union has determined that the "Bright – Green – Clean – Beautiful" model should be maintained and expanded, with the aim of making every road and residential area increasingly orderly, clean and beautiful.

In Loc Hung Commune, providing housing assistance to disadvantaged members is regarded as one of the tasks associated with the Commune Farmers' Union's social welfare work. Thi Loc, Chairwoman of the Loc Hung Commune Farmers' Union, said the union has regularly paid attention to members' economic circumstances and provided assistance in various forms. According to her, mobilizing social resources to support housing construction helps disadvantaged households ease their financial burdens, secure stable accommodation and gain peace of mind to engage in work and production.

In the coming period, the Loc Hung Commune Farmers' Union will continue reviewing and closely monitoring members' circumstances to provide appropriate forms of assistance. The union will also intensify efforts to mobilize organizations, individuals and benefactors to contribute additional resources to social welfare activities in the locality.

These practical activities demonstrate the increasingly prominent role of Farmers' Union organizations at all levels in improving members' lives. Beyond accompanying members in agricultural production and supporting economic development, Farmers' Union organizations also serve as a bridge connecting benefactors with those in need, mobilizing additional social resources to help ensure social welfare for local residents.
