In times of danger, the armed forces of Dong Nai province remain a steadfast pillar of support for the people. Guided by the spirit of “serving the people,” officers and soldiers willingly overcome hardships to protect lives and property. Their timely and courageous actions have reinforced public trust and further strengthened the bond between the military and the people.
In recent times, Dong Nai Province has witnessed a series of incidents highlighting the courage and sense of responsibility of its armed forces. Stories of saving lives, protecting property, and showing humanity in times of hardship have left a deep and lasting impression on the community.
Standing side by side with the people
On the afternoon of September 4, in Dong Tam commune, Dong Nai province, B.V.V. (60 years old) fell into a dry well more than 20 meters deep. During natural disasters, the image of the soldier becomes even more familiar and endearing. Notably, on the morning of September 12, heavy rainfall caused localized flooding in several communes and wards across Dong Nai province. Commune-level police and militia forces braved difficult conditions, wading through floodwaters to help each household move belongings and evacuate the elderly and children to safety. At the same time, traffic police were deployed to manage traffic flow and issue warnings to prevent accidents.
In addition to the incidents mentioned above, many other unexpected situations have also demonstrated the prompt response and humanitarian spirit of the armed forces. According to the Traffic Police Division of Dong Nai provincial Public Security, in the early hours of September 7, a patrol unit from the provincial traffic police discovered a 17-year-old teenager jumping off An Hao bridge (Tran Bien ward, Dong Nai province) into the Dong Nai river. The officers quickly coordinated with residents in the locality to rescue the victim and safely return him to his family.
These stories represent just a small fraction of the numerous incidents in which the Dong Nai armed forces have participated, ranging from rescue and disaster response to security and order protection. All of these actions demonstrate courage, a sense of responsibility, and genuine affection for the people.
Strengthening public trust
The courageous and humanitarian efforts of the Dong Nai armed forces in recent times hold immense significance. They stand as clear evidence of their role as a “shield” protecting the peaceful lives of the people. When accidents, natural disasters, or unforeseen incidents occur, officers and soldiers are consistently among the first to respond, ready to rush into danger to rescue individuals and minimize damage.
Vu Tien Trung, a resident of Binh An commune, Dong Nai province, stated: “These actions confirm that the motto ‘serving for the sake of the people’ is not merely a slogan but is reflected through tangible actions. Whether day or night, in scorching sun or pouring rain, officers and soldiers stand firm in perilous situations. For them, true happiness arises when every life is saved, every roof is rebuilt, and every concern of the people is addressed.”
In the course of fulfilling their responsibilities, commanders and police of units, as well as local authorities, are required to consistently inspect, urge, and remind officers and soldiers to uphold a strong sense of responsibility and cultural behavior. They must be ready to support and assist residents whenever requested or when necessary, thereby fostering a positive and approachable image and strengthening public trust in the police force.
Colonel TRAN ANH SON, Deputy Director of Dong Nai provincial Public Security
B.T.N., the mother of the teenager rescued after jumping from An Hao bridge on September 7, expressed her deep gratitude for the police, who promptly saved her son's life and wholeheartedly supported him in overcoming his mental crisis. Police officers and soldiers are not only law enforcers but also possess a compassionate heart, always ready to sacrifice for the people. Their actions have restored her faith in humanity and the importance of sharing in life.
In the near future, confronted with the unpredictable nature of natural disasters and accidents, the armed forces must persist in enhancing their qualifications, investing in equipment, and fortifying their resolve to carry out their duties effectively. Simultaneously, collaboration among sectors and localities, along with the support of the populace, will generate a unified strength, ensuring that search and rescue operations are as effective as possible.
Colonel Nguyen Tong Que, Party Secretary and Political Commissar of Defense Region 1 Command in Long Thanh under the Dong Nai provincial Military Command, shared: “In all circumstances, the Dong Nai armed forces consistently demonstrate a pioneering spirit, courage, and dedication in serving the people. Their sweat, and even their silent sacrifices, continue to reinforce the people’s enduring trust and affection for the armed forces.”
