Unique tourism products in Dong Nai

The tourism sector of Dong Nai City is stepping up efforts to promote and develop distinctive tourism products for domestic and international visitors.

Tourists visiting Dong Nai can enjoy unique experiences such as night wildlife-watching tours, exploring Bau Sau (Crocodile Lake), and trekking through the forest with rangers at Cat Tien National Park and the Dong Nai Nature-Culture Reserve. Visitors can also experience Son Tien Tourist Area, home to Vietnam’s largest water park, which holds 11 national records in various categories.

Exploring the green forests

Dong Nai City is home to one of the largest areas of natural forest in Southern Vietnam. With its rich biodiversity and diverse forest ecosystems, the city attracts millions of domestic and international visitors seeking opportunities for sightseeing, research, and exploration.

Cat Tien National Park is one of the destinations attracting visitors with impressive tourism products, including night wildlife-watching tours, ranger-guided forest excursions, and crocodile-watching tours. The park is also one of the region’s richest areas in terms of biodiversity. Its Management Board places strong emphasis on preserving and promoting this natural advantage.

Alongside Cat Tien National Park, the Dong Nai Nature-Culture Reserve is another attractive destination, boasting more than 1,500 plant species and over 2,200 animal species, including many rare and endemic species. In 2011, UNESCO recognized the Dong Nai Biosphere Reserve as a World Biosphere Reserve, with the Nature-Culture Reserve and Cat Tien National Park serving as core zones of the biosphere reserve. The area has also been designated for development as a national tourist area. The Reserve is an ideal destination during holidays, festivals, and weekends, offering experiences such as cycling through the forest to watch the sunrise and sunset over Tri An Lake, as well as birdwatching tours.

To create distinctive experiences and attract more visitors, the Reserve is working with Oxalis Co., Ltd. in Quang Tri Province, a leading company in developing world-renowned adventure and unique tourism products. The partnership aims to explore opportunities for investment in exclusive tourism products that could create a distinctive identity for Dong Nai tourism.

Impressive destinations

Alongside its forest-exploration tours, Dong Nai is home to a number of other attractive destinations, including Son Tien Ecotourism City, Buu Long Tourist Area, Tran Bien Temple of Literature, Suoi Mo Park, and Bo Cap Vang Ecotourism Area.

Recognized as Vietnam’s largest and most modern water park, with 11 facilities recognized by the Vietnam Records Organization, Son Tien Tourist Area is currently one of the city’s most popular destinations during holidays and festivals. All equipment used for its attractions is imported and meets technical and safety standards.

Meanwhile, Buu Long Tourist Area in Tran Bien Ward, although not the most modern tourist attraction, is Dong Nai’s oldest major tourist destination, having operated for more than 30 years. It continues to receive strong interest from visitors, particularly during holidays and festivals. Buu Long is often described as a “miniature Ha Long Bay” of Southern Vietnam, featuring clusters of small rocky islets scattered across a lake covering dozens of hectares. These formations are remnants of centuries-old stone quarrying in Buu Long’s traditional stonecraft village.

Dong Nai is also moving toward tourism development linked to Long Thanh Airport City, aiming to maximize the flow of international and domestic passengers while transforming the airport into a tourism and shopping destination rather than merely a transportation hub. To create a breakthrough for the local tourism sector, the city’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has proposed developing five tourism corridors, centered on Long Thanh International Airport, which is expected to become a leading international aviation hub in Southeast Asia with a projected capacity of 100 million passengers annually.

Dong Nai City currently has 28 tourist areas and attractions, offering a wide range of experiences, including sightseeing, entertainment, ecotourism, sports, religious, and cultural tourism. The city has 225 tourist accommodation establishments with more than 5,800 rooms, including 36 establishments rated from one to five stars.
