The climate and soil create the ideal condition for pomelos to grow, which might be the reason why Tan Trieu pomelos stand out from others. Because of the many pomelo trees, the region is called Lang Buoi Tan Trieu, or the Pomelo Village of Tan Trieu.
Tan Trieu pomelo comes in many kinds, each with its own aroma and taste. For example, sugar pomelos are very sweet and look nicely so that they are often chosen for display in the New Year holidays.
Other kinds include sweet orange pomelos, guava pomelos and sour pomelos. It is said that Tan Trieu was well-known for its guava pomelos, small but tasty, in the old days.
Guava pomelo trees are special because they just bear fruits in the New Year holiday season around the 12th lunar month. But because of their small fruits and low productive, guava pomelos fell from favor among the locals who started importing the other kinds of trees seen today.
No matter what kind they are, all Tan Trieu pomelos have some characteristics in common: The fruits are big and round and emit a light aroma.
