A wide range of support for the poor
Since 2025, many individuals and organizations have contributed to the Fund for the Poor at various levels or provided direct assistance to disadvantaged people in their communities through a variety of activities.
In 2026, the family of Le Thi Tru, wife of the late Nguyen Van Ky, former Secretary of the Bien Hoa Provincial Party Committee, contributed VND400 million to support social welfare and educational promotion activities in coordination with the Standing Board of the VFF Committee of Dong Nai City.
Since 2012, the Standing Board and Tru’s family have awarded nearly 2,000 scholarships worth more than VND5.8 billion through the Nguyen Van Ky Scholarship Fund to poor and disadvantaged pupils and students striving to excel in their studies. These annual scholarships have enabled many recipients to attend university and subsequently find stable employment.
Tran Van Su, a resident of Tam Hiep Ward, said he received a Nguyen Van Ky scholarship during his years at Dong Nai University. Thanks to the scholarship, he was able to complete his studies despite having lost both parents. He now has a stable job.
The “For the Poor” campaign has also received active support from religious organizations, religious dignitaries, religious functionaries, monastics and followers of different faiths. Among them, Buddhist nun Thich Nu Nhat Khuong, Witness of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s city-level Buddhist Nuns’ Division and abbess of Quang Minh Pagoda in Binh Phuoc Ward, has for many consecutive years helped build community bridges and charity houses, awarded scholarships and presented gifts to poor households. She has also continued providing food assistance to some households without family support and people with disabilities facing particularly difficult circumstances. Total funding for these activities has exceeded VND3.6 billion.
Businesses have also actively participated in the "For the Poor" movement, particularly by supporting the construction of homes for poor households. The Southern Power Corporation contributed VND1.8 billion to build 30 houses, while Becamex Binh Phuoc Infrastructure Development Joint Stock Company donated VND4.8 billion to build 60 houses. Dong Nai General Agricultural Service Cooperative Union (Donacoop) provided more than VND11.2 billion in total assistance to help residents recover from natural disasters and provide gifts to elderly people living alone, orphaned children and people with disabilities receiving care at 20 social protection facilities across the city.
Notably, in implementing the campaign, the Standing Board of the VFF Committee of Dong Nai City has reached out to and mobilized foreign non-governmental organizations, enterprises with foreign direct investment (FDI) and foreign associations to contribute. Among them, the Korean Business Association in Dong Nai has supported social welfare activities, contributing VND1.1 billion to the construction of Great Solidarity houses. Latter-day Saint Charities has provided VND7 billion to help 100 families build homes.
Thanks to these contributions, more than 200 households in the city have moved into solid homes since the beginning of 2026. Another 100-plus families are receiving housing assistance, with their homes expected to be completed by the end of the year. Residents have also contributed VND330 billion to humanitarian and charitable activities, providing direct assistance to people in poverty and others in difficult circumstances. Previously, in 2025, the Fund for the Poor at various levels raised VND206.8 billion to implement support programs for disadvantaged people.
Prioritizing social welfare
To ensure the “For the Poor” campaign remains effective in 2026 and subsequent years, the Standing Board of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Nai City and the city’s Fund for the Poor Mobilization Committee will continue to connect and mobilize social resources while ensuring transparency, accountability and compliance with the law.
According to Nguyen Tan Phu, Vice Chairman of the VFF Committee of Dong Nai City, Dong Nai is home to more than 2.65 million religious adherents and over 42,000 religious dignitaries, clergy and monastics. The Fatherland Front Committee will therefore continue to reach out to and coordinate with religious organizations, dignitaries, clergy, monastics and followers to encourage their contributions to social welfare activities.
According to Nguyen Tan Phu, Vice Chairman of the VFF Committee of Dong Nai City, one of the key tasks for the committee’s Standing Board, which also serves as the standing body of the city’s Fund for the Poor Mobilization Board, from now until the end of 2026 is to work with member organizations to carefully prepare Lunar New Year 2027 support programs for poor people and those facing hardship, ensuring that every person and every household can celebrate the holiday.
Venerable Thich Hue Khai, Head of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Dong Nai City, said that in response to the campaign launched by the Standing Board of the city’s Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, the local Buddhist community had actively encouraged monks, nuns and Buddhists to continue working with Fatherland Front committees at all levels to help poor households build homes, obtain medical treatment and receive free medicine at traditional medicine clinics.
The Standing Board of the city’s VFF Committee and its member organizations have also mobilized the business community, foreign non-governmental organizations, FDI enterprises and business associations to make commitments to supporting social welfare initiatives in Dong Nai.
At a meeting with leaders of the city’s VFF Committee in September 2026, Lee Wei Chun, Chairman of the Taiwan Chamber of Commerce in Dong Nai, said the association and the committee’s Standing Board had agreed to strengthen connections, exchange information and explore suitable joint initiatives to support social welfare activities in the coming period.
Alongside public communication, fundraising and the receipt and distribution of contributions from individuals and organizations, the Standing Board of the city’s VFF Committee and local committees at commune and ward levels are also recognizing and rewarding individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the community. According to Nguyen Tan Phu, Vice Chairman of the VFF Committee of Dong Nai City, this recognition is intended to provide timely encouragement and acknowledge the active participation of individuals, organizations, agencies and businesses in the “For the Poor” campaign.
