Connecting rural workers with employment opportunities

During the first half of 2026, Dong Nai City stepped up efforts to better match labor supply with demand by bringing employment services closer to rural residents.

Through mobile job fairs, career counseling programs, skills training and partnerships with businesses, local authorities have gradually expanded access to stable employment, helping raise incomes, facilitate labor restructuring and promote sustainable rural economic development.

Bringing employment opportunities to the grassroots

As one of Vietnam's fastest-growing industrial centers, Dong Nai has consistently maintained strong demand for labor recruitment. However, many workers in rural areas still face difficulties accessing recruitment information, lack vocational skills or have yet to receive appropriate career guidance. To address these challenges, the city has introduced a range of initiatives to deliver employment services directly to local communities. Rather than limiting recruitment activities to the urban center, job transaction sessions are now being organized in communes and wards, enabling job seekers to connect directly with employers in their own localities.

Job transaction floors held in communes and wards have become an important bridge between employers and job seekers, helping reduce job-search costs and shorten recruitment time. A notable example was the job transaction session held in Bu Dang commune in June by the Dong Nai Employment Service Center (DNESC) in coordination with local authorities. The event attracted 20 enterprises offering more than 6,700 job vacancies and drew around 1,200 job seekers for consultations and on-site interviews. Participants also received free advice on labor market trends, available positions, working conditions, salaries, social insurance benefits, vocational training opportunities and career transition support policies.

Vo Van Thuyen, one of the participants, said the event not only enabled job seekers to take part in direct interviews with employers but also allowed them to receive career counseling, vocational training guidance, overseas employment information and advice on government support policies. These activities give rural workers more opportunities to choose careers that match their abilities and personal circumstances.

According to Tran Dai Ky, Deputy Director of the DNESC, the center has coordinated with commune-level People's Committees to widely disseminate recruitment information, including specific job vacancies offered by employers. The center places particular emphasis on assisting priority groups, including demobilized military personnel, unemployment benefit recipients, ethnic minority workers, people seeking career changes, and students preparing to graduate from schools. Job seekers attending job transaction sessions also receive guidance on employment support policies and gain access to a wide range of career opportunities, enabling them to make informed career decisions and apply for positions suited to their qualifications and aspirations.

By bringing employment services directly to the grassroots, while integrating career counseling and job transition support, Dong Nai is opening up new opportunities for rural workers. Beyond addressing immediate employment needs, these initiatives are helping build a high-quality workforce capable of meeting the city's long-term socio-economic development goals.

Diversifying employment linkage channels

Under Dong Nai City's development strategy, developing a modern labor market with stronger links between labor supply and demand has been identified as one of the key priorities for the 2026-2030 period. The city aims to expand sustainable employment opportunities, improve workforce quality through demand-driven vocational training, and develop a comprehensive labor market information system. During the first six months of 2026, Dong Nai created jobs for more than 84,000 workers, fulfilling over 84 percent of its annual target.

The DNESC regularly updates employers' recruitment needs on its portal, allowing job seekers to search vacancies, submit applications electronically and access information on unemployment insurance and vocational training support. At the same time, the network of community-based employment collaborators has continued to play an effective role by updating employers' recruitment needs, compiling local labor data, providing employment policy advice and helping residents access vocational training programs and labor market information.

Alongside job placement services, Dong Nai has attached particular importance to improving workforce quality through vocational training. Training programs focus on occupations in high demand, including mechanics, electrical and electronics engineering, logistics, food processing, garment manufacturing, industrial technology and services. For rural workers, short-term vocational training courses are organized locally to make participation more convenient. Upon completing the training, many participants are recruited directly by businesses or gain the skills needed to transition into higher-paying occupations.

To enhance the effectiveness of job placement efforts, socio-political organizations across the city have become actively involved. Notably, the Dong Nai Farmers' Association has signed a cooperation agreement with the DNESC to provide career counseling, vocational guidance and job placement services for its members and local workers during the 2026-2030 period. In recent days, the two organizations have jointly organized a series of counseling activities in communes and wards to support members in employment, vocational training and human resource development.

As part of the program, participants receive updates on labor market trends, employers' recruitment demand and job opportunities suitable for rural workers. They are also provided with career guidance, employment policy consultations, vocational training information and advice on overseas employment opportunities. In addition, workers are instructed on how to access official recruitment channels, register for free job placement services and connect directly with employers through the employment service center's network.

The development of labor market not only helps create jobs but also serves as a driving force for local economic growth, lower unemployment and improved living standards in rural communities. Through job matching, vocational training and career guidance programs, Dong Nai is steadily helping rural workers adapt to the evolving demands of the labor market. As a result, many have secured stable jobs in industrial parks and enterprises with reliable incomes.
