Waste-for-gifts exchange launched at Dong Nai Green Week 2026

On May 31, the Department of Agriculture and Environment announced that it had issued a plan for organizing Dong Nai Green Week and activities marking World Environment Day (June 5) 2026, featuring a series of large-scale events across Dong Nai City.

According to the plan, the activities are aimed at raising public awareness of environmental protection and sustainable development, promoting lifestyles that are more harmonious with nature and reducing the impacts of climate change.

The highlight will be the launch ceremony for Dong Nai Green Week, scheduled to take place at 7 a.m. on June 5 at the Dong Phu ward People’s Committee headquarters, with the participation of around 1,500 people, including city leaders, representatives of departments, agencies, localities, businesses, students and local residents.

Following the launch ceremony, response activities will include promotional vehicle parades paired with cycling campaigns, a waste-for-gifts exchange programme for recyclable and hazardous waste; exhibitions and displays on environmental protection,  and tree planting.

For the waste-for-gifts program, organizers will set up 10 booths where residents can bring recyclable and hazardous waste in exchange for essential household goods.

The plan requires every commune and ward across the city to organize at least one practical response activity, such as environmental cleanups, tree planting, waste collection and treatment. The city is also encouraging stronger communication efforts through digital platforms and social media to broaden community outreach.

For years, the locality has consistently organized Dong Nai Green Week and activities marking World Environment Day to raise public awareness, foster environmentally responsible habits and advance its goal of building a greener, cleaner and more sustainable urban environment.
