Statue of Tran Hung Dao inaugurated

(ĐN)- Thong Nhat district-based Tran Hung Dao Secondary School on Saturday held a ceremony to begin the new 2018-2019 school year and celebrate its 30th founding anniversary.

 

(ĐN)- Thong Nhat district-based Tran Hung Dao Secondary School on Saturday held a ceremony to begin the new 2018-2019 school year and celebrate its 30th founding anniversary.

In the new school year, the school has 13 classrooms and is home to 541 students.

On this occasion, the school inaugurated statue of Grand Prince of Hung Dao-Tran Quoc Tuan. The statue measures 3.6m in height, 0.8m in width, weights 8.5 tons and is made of monolithic granite, with total cost of VND360 million, funded by Minh Thanh Company.

Tran Hung Dao, original name Tran Quoc Tuan, also called Grand Prince of Hung Dao, (born 1228—died 1300), figure of almost legendary proportions in Vietnamese history, a brilliant military strategist who defeated two Mongol invasions and became a cultural hero among modern Vietnamese.
