Launched in 2012, the program encouraging primary school children to wear helmets on the road has donated helmets to more than 28,000 pupils at 39 schools in Quang Binh, Ha Tinh and Dong Nai provinces under the sponsorship of Johnson & Johnson Foundation.
In Dong Nai alone, the project has been deployed at 8 primary schools in Long Khanh town, Bien Hoa city, and Trang Bom district.
The program helps increase the awareness among teachers and parents of child helmet wearing. It also aims to reduce the number of traffic crash injuries and fatalities.
The program to exchange tight, damaged helmets for new ones will be held for pupils at 8 primary schools in Dong Nai on October 17.
