(ĐN)- Dong Nai saw a dramatic decrease in the number of malnourished children under five but a rapid increase in the number of overweight and obese children, especially in urban areas. Approximately 15 percent of children under 5-years old in the province are malnourished. The province strives to reduce the percentage of malnourished under-five children to below 3 per cent by 2015 with 2.5 per cent annual decline.

Both obesity and malnutrition are very harmful to the body. Overweight and obesity increase the risk of many health problems,  including heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and a number of other illnesses. Obesity is among the easiest medical conditions to recognize but most difficult to treat, especially in children.
