(ĐN)- A scholarship awarding ceremony was held on Sept 29 at the provincial Conference Centre with the attendance of Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Vo Van Mot, Head of the Mass Mobilisation Department Bui Ngoc Thanh and Chairwoman of the provincial Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Thi Kim Lien.
According to the report from Dong Nai Department of Education and Training, there were more than 4,000 students giving up their studies in the school year of 2009-2010, 665 of them were forced to drop out of school to help their families eke out a living at home.

The fund for poor students is established to mobilize all resources to offer more opportunities for students with difficult circumstances to continue their study, become good citizens, contributing to the country’s development, said Head of the Mass Mobilisation Department Bui Ngoc Thanh. She also highly appreciated contributions of individuals, organizations and businesses to the fund, helping reduce the rate of students dropping out of school in the province.
More than one month after launching, the province’s fund for poor students has raised more than VND1.5 billion from organizations and individuals inside and outside the province.
At the ceremony, the organizers awarded 100 scholarships each worth VND3 million to poor students who are at high risk of dropping out of school.
