(ĐN)- The Second Sports Festival of Information and Communications Sector in the South took place in Dong Nai from August 22-24. The festival is part of activities to mark the 63rd anniversary of the establishment of information and communications sector (August 15).
The event drew the participation of more than 300 athletes from 24 departments of information and communications in the South region, competing in 7 different sports and games, including football, table-tennis, badminton, tennis, jumping in jute bags, tug of war and karaoke singing
A total of 48 prizes were awarded. In which, 46 prizes were awarded to first-,second- and. third-place winners in each category and two were given to oldest and youngest participants. An additional prize was awarded to player who scored the highest number of goals in football. The host province picked up two first, two second and two third positions in four categories including football, badminton, table-tennis and karaoke singing.
On this occasion, the participating athletes and companies donated VND 51 million to help the province build 4 houses for poor families and presented over VND 8 million to Dong Nai’s gratitude fund.
The next sports festival will be held in Kien Giang in 2009.
