The Blue Ribbon Awards, organised by the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Viet Nam Assistance for the Handicapped (VNAH), were given to 12 companies, 10 employees with disabilities and five individuals. Among companies receiving awards was Changshin Vietnam located in Thanh Phu industrial park, Vinh Cuu district that employs 222 disabled people.
Le Thi Bao Thoa, a former Personnel Director of Changshin Vietnam said that employees with disabilities strictly abide by the firm’s rules and have a good ability to fulfil their work duties. Thoa told that since 2001-2002, Changshin Vietnam has taken the lead in recruiting people with disabilities. During the past years, the company has made efforts in training and providing jobs for people with disabilities, helping the disabled overcome many social barriers.
The total number of disabled workers employed in Changshin Vietnam now increases by 222 from several tens in 2001 to 195 in May 2008 when the company received Blue Ribbon Prize. The proportion of disabled workers accounts for more than 1% of the total staff. Of all disabled workers, more than 62% are women.
Additionally, the company has awarded a position to a qualified disabled employee. Mr. Pham Dinh Toi is an example. The degree of his disablement amounted to 40 % and he was nominated as the Head of the management group. His monthly salary is around VND 5 million. This is no doubt an ideal salary for a worker.
An official from the Personnel Department told that the company has made efforts to create jobs for the disabled, helping them feel happy and confident and promoting their integration into the society.
