The corps should continue to reform its training in the spirit of "essential, efficient, stable and in depth," the President told nearly 400 officers of Army Corps No. 4.
Triet said the soldiers’ drills should be carried out in line with modern fighting realities, including the use of high tech weapons.
The unit should constantly enhance its fighting strength and its readiness for fighting to ensure victories in all conditions, he said.
Triet asked the unit to strengthen its party organisation and enhance leadership capability and fighting power of all Party cells.
All Party members should be examples for others and the unit should effectively implement the campaign to follow President Ho Chi Minh’s exemplary morals, Triet said.
The corps should consider work on building the unit into a regular force as a centre task.
The unit should raise high the spirit of self-reliance, effectively organise logistics work and improve living standards for those in the army.
Major General Commander Nguyen Van Thanh informed the President of the corps’ situation in areas such as personnel, ideologies, training, logistics and Party-building.
The President was accompanied by Senior Lieutenant General Phan Trung Kien, who is also a member of the Communist Party of Viet Nam’s Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Defence, and leaders from Binh Duong and Dong Nai provinces.
