(ĐN)- Vice Chairwoman of the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee Huynh Thi Nga recently held a working session with the province’s Committee for Population, Family and Children to discuss on the population and family planning work from 2007 until 2010.

Dong Nai aims to limit its population to around 2.5 million by 2010 by continuing a strategy of encouraging families to have no more than two children.

Other targets include reducing the natural population growth rate to 1.17 percent and the proportion of families giving birth to a third child will be 4% in 2010.

The strategy will also call for increasing the number of child-bearing women using a modern contraceptive method to 76 per cent and improving the human development index of the province.
