(ĐN)- On March 20, leaders of the Provincial Labour Union and the Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Dong Nai province along with representatives of the Dong Nai Industrial Zones Authority held a meeting with trade union officials in foreign invested enterprises (FIEs) located in Bien Hoa city’s industrial zones.
Trade union officials briefed on the situation of workers in FIEs and raised matters concerning the operation of trade unions in FIEs.
Addressing at the meeting, Le Thi My Phuong, Director of the province’s Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs said that reasons for strikes at FIEs stem from labourers’ interests and low salary is generally the most important reason. Phuong emphasised the important role of trade unions at FIEs in protecting legal interests and legitimate aspirations of workers, as well as making policies for labourers. She also said that local state agencies and trade union at all levels will always join in solving any disputes pertaining to wages and bonuses for labourers.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial Labour Union Huynh Van Tinh also pointed out the vital role of trade union officials at FIEs in ensuring the implementation of policies for laborers in a fair manner.
