Dong Nai’s health sector celebrates 52nd Annual Physicians Day

(ĐN)- On February 27, Dong Nai’s health department held a meeting to celebrate the 52nd anniversary of the Vietnam Physician’s Day and to reviewed the sector’s performance in 2006 and set tasks for 2007 in the presence of Mr. Vo Van Mot, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee.

(ĐN)- On February 27, Dong Nai’s health department held a meeting to celebrate the 52nd anniversary of the Vietnam Physician’s Day and to reviewed the sector’s performance in 2006 and set tasks for 2007 in the presence of Mr. Vo Van Mot, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee.

The province’s health sector reported that more than VND 51 billion was invested in construction of new health facilities and purchases of new equipment in 2006. It can be said that 2006 was a successful year for Dong Nai’s health sector. Accordingly, the sector increased efforts to attract a number of physicians and those with Masters and PhD degrees in medical field over the past year to work at clinics and hospitals in areas of the province. In addition, the province has stepped up the socialization of medical activities to serve the medical examination and treatment for local people. The province’s health sector made efforts to prevent and control epidemic diseases and no death or serious case caused by epidemic diseases happened in the province during the past year. The volume of food poisoning cases has been dramatically decreased. During the reviewed period, the provincial hospitals has provided treatment and care for over 5.5 million patients, exceeding the target by over 20 per cent.

The meeting also mapped out the orientations and tasks for the province’s health sector in 2007.  Accordingly, the tasks for 2007are set as follows: 70% of health stations strive to meet national standards on healthcare; To concentrate on the construction of new health establishments and purchases of new equipment for the district level hospitals, clinics and health stations; To accelerate the socialization of medical activities and diversification of health services.  By 2010, the province will has additional 1,000 medical doctors and those with Masters and PhD degrees in medical field.

To mark the 52nd anniversary of the Vietnam Physicians Day, leaders of the province’s health department reviewed the achievements of the sector in the past 52 years while at the same time, launching the campaign to follow President Ho Chi Minh’s exemplary morals.

On this occasion, the Health Ministry presented the title “outstanding excellent hospital” to 5 units including Dong Nai province’s Pediatrics Hospital, General Hospitals in Long Thanh and Xuan Loc districts, medical centers in Vinh Cuu and Xuan Loc districts. Besides, the Provincial People’s Committee awarded the excellent flag of the province to 2 units namely Long Thanh General Hospital and Long Thanh district’s Preventive Medicine Center.
