Dong Nai Department of Trade and Tourism cerebrates 60th anniversary of Vietnam Tourism sector

(ĐN)- The Dong Nai Department of Trade and Tourism yesterday celebrated the 60th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Tourism (November 26) with the presence of Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Dinh Quoc Thai.

(ĐN)- The Dong Nai Department of Trade and Tourism yesterday celebrated the 60th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Tourism (November 26) with the presence of Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Dinh Quoc Thai.

In line with the development of the Vietnam trade sector, the provinces trade and services sector have made significant progress over the past 30 years. The past three decades have seen an increasing number of companies in trade and services in Dong Nai including 16 state-owned enterprises, 1,132 non-state owned enterprises, 16 cooperatives, 63 private households and 15 foreign-invested enterprises. Already, the province’s trade and services sector has so far employed over 72,000 people. It is estimated that the value of retail sales in Dong Nai is in excess of VND21,000 billion in 2006, 45 times higher than in 1990. In the field of tourism, the average annual growth rate of visitors to Dong Nai for 2001-2005 period was 31.75% and Dong Nai’s tourism recorded a 22.32% rise in turnover. In 2005, Dong Nai welcomed 552,600 visitors, increased three-fold over 2001 and the province reaped VND 74.13 billion from tourism services; this figure was double compared with the year 2001.

Speaking at the celebration, Mr. Dinh Quoc Thai highly praised achievements of the province’s trade sector over the past years and hoped that the sector would continue to grow at high growth.
