At his reception of the Russian President and his entourage on Nov. 20, Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh said Viet Nam always attached importance to developing the bilateral relationship with Russia.

 

He said he believed the Russian Federation would further develop strongly, raise its position and prestige and make a worthy contribution to the peace, stability and cooperation for development in the region and the world at large.

 

The Vietnamese Party leader also expressed thanks to the Russian President, Government and people for favourable conditions they have provided to the Vietnamese who are living, working and studying in Russia, thus contributing to Russias development and the relationship between the two countries.

 

President Putin affirmed that Russia considered Viet Nam a strategic partner and wanted to develop the relationship to match the two countries potential.

 

The President said the two countries have potential as well as conditions to develop a stable, long-term and equal cooperation in various fields for mutual benefits.

 

The same day, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung met with Russian President Putin. He reaffirmed Viet Nams consistent policy to further boost the cooperation in all fields with Russia. He said the Vietnamese Government would do its utmost to implement signed treaties and agreements .

 

PM Dung thanked the Russian State and people for their assistance to Vietnamese people living in Russia, who he said work effectively as a bridge between the two countries.

 

President Putin congratulated Viet Nam for the socio-economic achievements the country had made during the renovation process. He invited PM Dung to pay an official visit to Russia and PM Dung accepted the invitation with pleasure.

 

NA Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong, during his meeting the same day with the Russian President, also stressed that the Vietnamese NA fully supported and would further coordinate with the Government in implementing the commitments between the two countries. The NA would also create favourable conditions through its legislative activities for investment and trade of the two countries businesses.

 

President Putin said Russian placed importance on boosting the cooperation between the two countries legislatures. He expressed the wish that the Vietnamese NA would actively help boost the economic, cultural and education cooperation between the two countries. He also said Russia was ready to assist Viet Nam in Russian teaching.

 

In the evening of Nov. 20, President Nguyen Minh Triet hosted a banquet in honour of President Putin and his entourage.

 

Addressing the event, President Triet expressed the hope that the two countries will fully tap the potential of each country and use their experiences in cooperation over many decades to bring their strategic partnership to a new height to meet interests and aspirations of the two peoples in the new period.

 

President Putin said Russian people always hold in high esteem Vietnamese people, a hard-working and heroic nation that had overcome numerous difficulties during their struggle for national liberation to develop an economy at a high and stable rate.

 

The two leaders and guests raised toasts to the constant development of the traditional friendship, multifaceted cooperation and strategic partnership between Viet Nam and Russia.
