Dong Nai transport sector to invest in increasing number of public transport vehicles

(ĐN) - Dong Nai transport sector targets to carry 2.8 million passengers by road and 735,000 passengers by sea this year. There is an increase of 6-10 per cent compared with the figure for 2005.

(ĐN) - Dong Nai transport sector targets  to carry 2.8 million passengers by road and 735,000 passengers by sea this year. There is an increase of 6-10 per cent compared with the figure for 2005. To serve better the needs of the passengers, two new bus stations including Nam Cat Tien and Dinh Quan are planned to come into operation in the near time. Concurrently, the Provincial Transport Department has placed orders for 60 new vehicles with total value of more than VND 43 billion. Moreover, the Provincial People’s Committee has allowed Transport Department to apply for a loan at the favourable interest rate from the Development Assistance Fund to buy more new vehicles so as to increase the number of public transport vehicles.

 

 Beside of seven existing public bus routes, Transport Department will establish 4 new routes, build 50 bus shelters and finish other bus stations with total expenditure of over VND19 billion. Currently, the Government of the district of Xuan Loc is implementing price assistance program for school buses for pupils . Xuan Loc district becomes the first locality of the province in completing this initiative encouraged by the provincial government of Dong Nai.  In 2005, Xuan Loc districts 12 buses carried 1.263 million pupils, contributing significantly in reducing the number of traffic accidents.
