Dong Nai press contributes efforts to promotion of local economic development

(ĐN)- The statement was made at a meeting in Bien Hoa city in the morning of June 21, 05 to mark the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21) and award the 16th Golden Pen Prize being held by the Dong Nai Journalist’s Association. The meeting was attended by Head of Department of Propaganda and Training, Provincial Committee of the Party Duong Thanh Tan, leaders of the province, other representatives from the local departments, organizations, and press and media agencies.

At the meeting, the Dong Nai Journalist’s Association Chairman Mai Song Be spoke of the glorious tradition of Vietnam ’s revolutionary press during the past 80 years, in particular, that of the Dong Nai press. Especially, during the past 30 years since the National Unity Day of April 30th, 1975 , the Dong Nai press has tried their best to give more prominence to the gathered audiences of print and broadcasting with the purpose of concentrating on the spread of political propaganda to accomplish all the assigned mission.  Accordingly, the press has broadened the scope of issues in increasing numbers with improved newspaper quality. At the same time, the media has also extended broadcasting longer than before.

Addressing at this meeting, Mr. Duong Thanh Tan highly appreciated active contributions of the provincial press to the cause of industrialization and modernization as well as promotion of the local economic development. With a booming growth on the internet, new version of Dong Nai online with added English language just was launched that played an importance role in meeting information needs of the worldwide readers. According to Tan’s opinion, disseminating through the local mass media information, however, is not corresponding to requirements of the recognized province with its great economic potentials. He also proposed that the provincial journalists should continue to upgrade their skills, research and use of information technology application to their jobs in order to serve better the diverse information needs of readers or viewers as well as promote further the local socio and economic development.

Dong Nai Newspaper reporter Minh Chanh was presented the first prize of the 16th Golden Pen Award.

On this occasion, the Dong Nai Journalist’s Association announced the award of the 16th Golden Pen Prize. 6 journalists of Dong Nai Newspaper won first, second, third and consolidation prizes. At the same time, many individuals were presented medals "For the cause of Vietnam Press" and some local departments and organizations also awarded certificates of merit for their efforts in success of the Spring 2005 Journal Fair  by President of Vietnam Journalist’s Association.
