Later the same morning, Vu Hong Van and the accompanying delegation also offered incense at Nguyen Huu Canh Temple. In 1698, Commander Nguyen Huu Canh was assigned by Lord Nguyen Phuc Chu to oversee the Southern territories, where he established Tran Bien garrison, laying the foundation for the formation and development of present-day Bien Hoa – Dong Nai.
This event, in which Marquis Nguyen Huu Canh established Tran Bien garrison, is regarded as a significant historical milestone in the process of asserting sovereignty and organizing administrative governance by the Vietnamese feudal state over the Southern region.
